Topic: What Does Christianity Really mean To You?

In John 16:33, Jesus Christ said:

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

What is the wisdom in this statement Christ made that can prosper one greatly?

Well, many have given a different interpretation to this statement by thinking that Christ affirms the facts that, as long as you’re in this world, you’ll certainly face troubles and tribulations.

That is absolutely wrong compared to what Christ meant in that statement. When you look around you, both inside and out, you’ll always see and hear about troubles and worries from people all over.

When the same troubles and worries affected those higher than you—I mean, those you feel shouldn’t have troubles at all yet they do—that alone brings to the conclusion that you must face troubles in this world even as a Christian.

When Christ used the words “in me” in that statement, He was referring to the pathway God has made available for us, and He came so we may know the way, and those who are in the pathway of God cannot and will not face the troubles in another pathway, which is in this world.

In John 14:6,

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Meaning that you cannot receive the kind of peace you deserve, which comes from the Father freely, without going through Christ Jesus. This is why you must acknowledge Christ being the way, in Him, of truth and life.

It will be very difficult to follow the pathway of God through Christ Jesus because of the many distracting devices in the world.

There are many temporary things you’ll continue to desire in this world that are big barriers, barricading you from entering the pathway of God through Christ Jesus.

You can’t see that as truth and turn away from them; rather, you depend on praying for God to bless your own path in the world. How can this be when Christ has told you that in this world there’ll be tribulations?

Many will say to you that they’re neither full of God nor full of the world, but they just do their things. That means they’ve created their own path, which they follow, yet they depend on others to see the future for them.

Does it mean that you’re not supposed to desire those things because you have needs for them?

Not really, because even when you need those things you desire, the purpose for which you desire them cannot be the same as that of others; your own purpose is meant to honor God, not men.

In that case, they cannot become a barrier to you from walking the pathway of God through Christ, because your joy does not depend on them but rather on the pathway of God.

So, those things that cause people to face challenges and tribulations cannot do the same to you because you do not honor them.

A believer takes authority from Christ to act while in this world, meaning that Christ warrants a believer’s action at all times. But ask of you: what warrants the action of a non-believer in Christ?

It is the challenges and unbearable situation at hand that will always get them crazy.

Things that change your mood to behave rightly or wrongly do not have such authority over a believer’s life because they share nothing in common.

This is why you must be a Christian, one who follows Christ through His words.
