Our Counseling ministry was born from countless conversations on curbs, in hospital rooms, and outside shelters where someone finally whispered, "I cannot hold this alone anymore." We created a safe, faith-rooted place where people in vulnerable seasons can lay down their burdens without fear of being shamed or rushed.
We walk with individuals who are homeless, in recovery, re-entering life after prison, living with illness, or carrying private battles that few can see. Sessions are gentle and conversational. We listen, we pray when invited, and we help untangle the knots of fear, guilt, anger, and grief that can make each day feel impossible. Within this ministry, Grieving Counseling holds a special place. Many of our neighbors have said goodbye to loved ones suddenly-through death, separation, or incarceration. Others are grieving the loss of health, stability, or a version of life they thought they would have. In these spaces, tears are welcome. Silence is welcome. Doubt and questions are welcome, too. We remind every person that their pain is not a burden to us, and that God is not intimidated by their honest emotions.
When someone is also battling addiction or adjusting after release from prison, we walk at their pace, honoring the courage it takes just to show up. We connect them with practical resources, peer support, and our other Rivers of Hope programs so they are never navigating next steps alone.
All counseling support is offered with compassion and confidentiality, at no cost to those we serve. If you feel overwhelmed, numb, or simply tired of pretending you are okay, there is a chair for you and a listening ear ready to meet you right where you are.
